A project I'd been sketching in my head since I was 15.

I first saw the old Centurion in 2016, when my older brother started at CCHS and played on the basketball team. In 2020 I played on that court myself. After spending 4 years critiquing this mascot, I knew I had to redesign it.

Athletic Director Brandon Easler reach out to me desperate for some change. While the existing mascot worked, he needed something that would be built for the years ahead. This wasn’t just a logo, but a symbol of change and new values.

Same Centurion, sharper look.

When approaching this redesign, I wanted to preserve the parts of the current centurion that were iconic, while losing the fluff. Complex linework, uneccessary shapes, and proportions that didn’t make sense.

Through many hours of refining, we landed on a centurion that was dynamic enough to replicate on jerseys, merch, and courts, but lively enough to appeal to the entire student body.

One mark was never going to be enough.

A school identity has to survive a gym floor, an embroidered hat, a game ticket, and a one-color screen print in the same week. So I didn’t deliver a logo, I delivered a system.

From full centurion, to simplified badge, there is no task that this logo suite can’t conquer. I wanted to make sure that the look stayed consistent, no matter what situation. That’s what makes a great brand.
